David joined the firm in 2008 with a background in commercial law, civil litigation, trial and appellate practice, energy and natural resources, oil and gas law, general business, real estate, construction and creditor’s rights. His current practice primarily involves representation of small and medium sized businesses, oil and gas operations, and commercial litigation. He has had several cases published: Ferguson v. District Court of Oklahoma County, 544 P.2d 498 (Okla. 1975); Schoenhals v. Cockrum, 647 F.2d 1080 (C.A. Okla. 1981); Jerry Chambers Exploration Co. v. Headington Penn Corp., et al., 878 P.2d 385 (Okla.Ct.App. 1994); U.S. Mortg. v. Laubach, 73 P.3d 887 (Okla. 2003); Ryan v. American Natural Energy Corp., 557 F.3d 1152 (10th Cir. 2009), as well as several unpublished cases, including: EEC, Inc. v. Baker Hughes Oilfield Operations, Inc., United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, Case No. 11-6121; and In the Matter of the Estate of Kay McCollum Switzer, Steven Lookadoo, Appellant, Court of Civil Appeals in the State of Oklahoma, Division II, Case No. 107,247.
He has been admitted to practice in the Oklahoma Supreme Court and all Oklahoma District Courts, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of Oklahoma, as well as the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of Oklahoma. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association, Rotary International, the Oklahoma City Men’s Dinner Club, and the Petroleum Club. He is an Elder, Deacon, and Clerk of the Session at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and has served as Vice-Moderator of the Board of Deacons and the Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church, as well as on the Board of Management of the YMCA Oklahoma City Central Branch. David has received an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
Born in Bristol, Virginia, David moved to Oklahoma in 1964 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He received his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1972 from the University of Oklahoma.
David's life revolves around his Christian faith, family, friends and the practice of law. Having owned eight sports cars, David is a member of the Porsche Club of America. David is also a motorcycling enthusiast and enjoys riding his Triumph Speedmaster and Triumph Thunderbird with his wife, who also has her own motorcycle. David began writing a book about eight years ago and is about half finished.
