Biography:

Matt joined the Firm in March 2011 with extensive experience in administrative law and regulatory practice, with an emphasis on energy and natural resources, environmental, oil and gas and water law. Prior to entering private practice, Matt worked as an environmental attorney at the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for ten years. While at the DEQ, Matt worked within the Air Quality, Land Protection and Water Quality Divisions, handling a multitude of regulatory compliance, enforcement and permitting matters.

He has been admitted to practice in the Oklahoma Supreme Court and all Oklahoma District Courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma. He is a member of the Oklahoma County Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association, and the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Environmental Law and Energy and Natural Resources Sections. Matt presents at various national, regional and local seminars and has been asked to participate in several public outreach programs relating to environmental regulations. Matt currently serves as a Board Member on the College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Board at OSU, having served two terms as President of the Board. He also is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO). Matt has received an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell.

Matt graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Ecology and a Minor in Political Science. While at OSU, he was named a Top Ten Senior in the College of Arts and Sciences. He received his Juris Doctorate degree in 2000 from the University of Oklahoma, College of Law. While attending law school, he spent a semester at Queens College at Oxford University in Oxford, England studying the British Legal System and European Economic Community.

Matt, his wife Jamie and their two sons reside on the original Martin Farms homestead outside of Amber, Oklahoma. Matt and his wife have restored three historic homes during their marriage including the original farmhouse on Martin Farms built in 1908, a home in Enid built in 1933 that was the former residence of O.T. Autry, the namesake of Autry Technology Center in Enid and, most recently, a home built in 1911 that was the former residence of Congressman Jed Johnson in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He secretly aspires to be the next host of This Old House.
