Our friend and partner, Alan C. Durbin, died on March 1, 2013, finally yielding to the cancer that he fought so long and hard. We are greatly saddened at the loss of our beloved friend.
Alan was the best kind of lawyer, one who inspired trust in his partners and his clients. Alan was an essential part of Andrews Davis, having practiced with the firm for more than 40 years. He was a recognized expert in real property and title law, often using his expertise in complex financing transactions and in large multi-state commercial real estate transactions. He authored Oklahoma Real Estate Forms—Practice (3 volumes), Lexis Law Publishing, as well as numerous other articles and contributions to legal publications. An active member of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Real Property Law Section, he was a long-standing member and contributor to the Oklahoma Title Examination Standards Committee. Alan was recognized in Best Lawyers of the Year for many consecutive years and is named in Who’s Who in American Law. Alan was named as the 2012 Lawyer of the Year in Equipment Finance Law and Real Estate. He ably served as mentor to many lawyers in the fields of real estate and financing law.
Above all, Alan was the most decent of men. Whether dealing with friend or foe in a legal matter, or with others in life, he always conducted himself as a gentleman. His example of adoring husband and dedicated father is an inspiration to us all. Alan was devoted to his church, serving as a Deacon and an Elder at the First Christian Church in Norman. He will be missed by all of us at Andrews Davis and a wide circle of friends.
